For consultants

MEP design software for mechanical consultants.

Keep preliminary mechanical layouts, calculation inputs and system-sizing results together. MEPFlow gives consulting engineers a browser workspace for repeatable design tasks.

Consulting design involves more than producing a size. Another designer or reviewer needs to understand where the demand came from, which assumptions were used and what changed since the previous revision. MEPFlow brings the floor plan and supported calculations into the same project, making those discussions more concrete.

Connect Heat Loss to Floor Output

Use current room demand or a manual duty to develop an underfloor heating layout. Compare floor output with the room heating need, inspect manifold and circuit results, and document the reviewed design with a PDF layout and schedule or a CSV schedule.

Make early design assumptions visible

Trace the rooms you are designing, set envelope and design-day inputs, and review heating and cooling results at room and block level. Keep the basis of design visible while investigating a revised room use, glazing area or construction. The workflow helps organize a preliminary calculation; it is not a substitute for an independently accepted project method.

Follow demand into the distribution layout

Use supported space-demand assignments or deliberate manual inputs, connect terminals and equipment, and apply the appropriate sizing action. Check whether a change to room demand also requires revisiting terminal airflow, hydronic duty, pipe/duct size and available pressure. Recalculate and review stale-result warnings before relying on a saved result.

Review plumbing as connected systems

Domestic-water design connects fixtures to their cold and hot supplies. The separate sanitary Drainage module follows drainage fixture units through branches, stacks and mains. Keeping the systems distinct supports a clearer review: their fixture-unit tables and sizing criteria are not interchangeable.

Review the domestic-water workflow

Start with a check the team already understands

Use a known branch, a simple water circuit or the public two-room load example to evaluate the software. Compare the input schedule, result and output with an independent calculation. The free calculators and technical guides can support this review before anyone starts a saved project.

What a design revision changes

For a formal review, identify the project revision and calculation date, then verify the supported output against the submitted drawing. Do not infer a multi-user approval workflow or audit-trail feature from the fact that the project can be saved. MEPFlow currently focuses on the design and calculation workspace.

Practical questions before you start

Is this a consulting or installation service?

No. MEPFlow is software used by the design team. Project engineering, site verification, coordination and final approval remain with the responsible professionals.

Can I use the calculators without an account?

Yes. The public calculators and engineering guides remain free to use without signup. Start a 30-day free trial when you want a saved design project with a floor plan and connected layouts.

Can I work from an existing PDF drawing?

Yes. Apply the appropriate page to a floor and establish scale before drawing. Review the geometry, classifications and connections yourself; PDF upload does not automatically recognize the building systems.

Does it replace the project CAD or BIM deliverable?

Use the deliverable your project requires. The established distribution modules provide PDF-overlay or PNG drawings and Loads provides its report/schedule outputs. Native Revit/IFC export and a complete fabrication model are not advertised.

Is every design automatically code compliant?

No. Check the specific method, jurisdiction, assumptions and limitations. A sized network does not establish complete compliance or remove the need for professional design review.

Try it on a design you can check.

Start with a small project, confirm the inputs and calculation basis, and review how the layout and results fit your process.
